Defining "Bonds"

Women breaking the bonds that hold them down could mean a whole lot of things--everything from the abstract to the literal meaning of being abused. The word bond on its own is not a bad thing. It can mean something that binds or restrains.  That isn’t necessarily a negative thing, as it can also be a uniting or binding element or force such as a reference to “an attractive force that holds together the atoms, ions, or groups of atoms in a molecule or crystal.” Without “bonds” we and everything around us would literally be all over the place!

What is that common denominator, bottom-line negative “bond” that holds us down? FEAR. Not the good, self-preservation kind that kicks in as a warning, etc but fear as it is often described: False Evidence Appearing Real. Take a moment to think about an area(s) in life where you are being held down, “walk it out” in your mind to the worst case scenario, you will arrive at the root of the bond and it will be a fear. Fear is an "emotional cockroach"--it lives and thrives in the dark.  Most often when the light of examination is shined on it, it will shrink in the light of reality and be much easier to break.  Any fear anchored in the past or future (and almost all are) is a paper dragon. Past is gone and the future only comes as NOW. So if the fear is not relative in the current moment (happening right now) to allow it to have any hold doesn’t make sense. Of course, we can know this in our minds but it takes repeated focus on choosing not to be bound, to say nothing of faith and prayer, to break free.

It also helps to have another kind of bond like the “bond of friendship.” That’s certainly part of what this website is about—to be a place where women can connect for support, encouragement and inspiration above and beyond the fun, food and shopping! But speaking of that, also listed in the definition of “bond” is: a 100-proof straight whiskey aged at least four years under government supervision before being bottled —called also bonded whiskey.

We like to think of a Plane Dame as: 100-proof and aging well with an attitude of altitude!   Jellyfish%20Mexico%20beach%20Eva.JPG
