9+ hours in a car on our way to AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconson (14+ hours coming back--don't ask!) this past July gave us plenty of time to name our little "nose art" tag lady.  After tossing out and trying out (verbally) many names the one that seemed just perfect surfaced.  Our lady's name is Rosie Rae.  While you might jump to the conclusion that we borrowed from Rosie the Riveter (she is that era), it isn't the case.  She is named for two very wonderful and inspiring people, Eva's parents, Rosie and Ray Fernandez.  By the time we met (2004), Eva's Mom was deceased by a number of years, so I (Gwyn) never had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know her.  But based on the things I've heard from Ray, close family friend, Judy, and Eva herself, Rosie was one of those people everyone loved and wanted to have in their life.  She was the very capable Mom of six children, a wife very much adored by her husband, a source of strength and joy for her family and friends.  While Rosie knew the struggle of raising a large family and even the loss of a child, she remained true to her faith and always a bright light.  Ray (Rae in our name) is an amazing man who is still sharp as a tack and going strong.  He has a little woodworking shop detached from his home and builds everything from a beautifully decorated mantle to a wooden train for the historical society in Excelsior Springs.  Ray is the source for Eva's life-long interest in aviation.  They have done many airshows and some aviation museums together.  With all the qualities Rosie and Ray embody, we couldn't think of two better namesakes for our lady and hopefully a small way to honor them.
