2010 is here!

Lots of changes coming up for Plane Dames in every aspect!  This site will be undergoing a major revamp but not until I complete some very important "business and life training!"  Look for great things to come!  Happy New Year!

So now it's almost Thanksgiving!

This month has been a real whirl of activity for me at the Airline History Museum as I produced our 1st Annual "Santa Comes to Connie" photo opp with Santa on a tug event.  Inspired by a Plane Dames trip to the Strategic Air & Space musem outside Omaha, Nebraska just about two years ago, we went beyond Santa to include members of the Star Wars Universe--24 from both the Imperial and the Rebel forces.  Toys for Tots were there, balloon artist, Martin Vargas, Trading Faces (face painters) and a great supply of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, The Roasterie coffee and melt in your mouth cookies from HyVee Catering.  You can read all about it, see photos and videos at the AHM Hangar website. As you can see here, I was "ebraced by the dark side!"

A new link has been added to this site for VAA 16, the Kansas City area Vintage Aircraft Association Chapter based at Gardner Municipal Airport west of Gardner, Kansas (the little airport not New Century).  Be sure and check it out.  They host a great vintage fly-in the last Saturday in June.

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Can you say busy?

I'm sure you can!  My job (began in January) has gotten increasingly busy as the months have rolled along so the time between blogs here is sad!  The good news is that I go to an airport every day and am more involved with aviation than ever.  Lots of "change in the air" for Plane Dames--hopefully all things our customers will like and enjoy--but too soon to write much about that.  Had a very wonderful time at and doing the Airline History Museum Hangar Dance.  This awesome shot was taken by a guest, Bonjwing Lee, and became "Photo of the Month" in the AHM Newsletter.  See more photos, etc. on the ahmhangar site.

'Tis the season to dance.....

Just a couple of weeks ago I was a guest at the KC Ghost Squadron Wing of the CAF's fall Hangar Dance.  As always, the hangar was filled to capacity, the Moonlight Serenade Orchestra and their vocalists were great and it was a perfect evening!  Now, in my capacity as the Office and Events Manager for the Airline History Museum I am in the throes of getting ready for our Hangar Dance in two weeks!  You don't have to love dancing to have a fabulous time!  Click here to find out more about it.  Looks to be a sell-out, so don't wait.

So many airplane events... so little time!

Since I have been working for the Airline History Museum for 9+ months now, I am in airplane heaven!  I am also busier than I have ever been!  In keeping up with the AHM doings (and sometimes not even that) I have fallen behind on the Plane Dames updates with photos and videos.  We returned yesterday from our first (personally and as vendors) Antique Aircraft Association Fly-In at Blakesburg, Iowa.  Wow.  I have been uploading video to YouTube on and off all day and will be putting it up here very soon, until then you can see them at planedame1 on YouTube.  I still have a ways to go on the photo editing because it was really hard not to just snap photos continuously!  We couldn't be more grateful to Marcy Taylor for inviting us after meeting us at the Wing Nuts Flying Circus in Tarkio, Missouri.  More to come on our adventures!
